Kasemrad 's Anaesthesiology Unit offers consultation in all areas of anaesthesia and critical care as well as chronic and acute pain management.

The Critical Care Unit  specialises in the support and management of seriously ill patients. Physicians and nurses provide consultation and intensive care for sick patients with a variety of illnesses that may require a range of care from close monitoring during and after surgery to advanced life support. These physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists supervise the multidisciplinary Intensive Care Units throughout the hospital. The Critical Care Team is on call 24 hours a day to transport critically ill patients from outlying hospitals.

The Anaesthesiology Unit strives to provide the highest quality patient care.  This team of skilled anaesthesia professionals benefit from different educational backgrounds and unique abilities as they collaborate to support the surgical teams throughout the hospital.

The anaesthesiologists and support personnel provide preoperative assessment, anaesthesia care during procedures, and medical management in the post-operative care unit. They also provide medical care to patients requiring postoperative or respiratory intensive care, postoperative acute pain management, and comprehensive evaluation and therapy for all types of acute and chronic pain.

These skilled professionals also provide leadership and administrative support in organising operating room, intensive care unit, and the critical care transport team. Additionally, they measure and monitor operating room efficiency, cost containment, and the quality assurance programme.

The unit is equipped to provide anaesthesia during a full range of surgeries,  performing  pulmonary and cardiovascular assessment, patient resuscitation, and follow-up care of patients in the intensive care units.
