  1. Cardiac Physiological Measurement
  2. This department provides a wide range of services which include:
    • Routine ECG's
    • Stress testing
    • Tilt table testing
    • 24 hour ambulatory monitoring
    • Echocardiography
    • Assisting the Medical Staff during cardiac catheterisation, angioplasty, electro-physiological studies, pacemaker and ICD (Implantable Cardioverter/Defibrillator) implantations
    • Providing a technical follow-up clinic for numbers pacemaker patients/year and also an ever increasing number of patients with ICD's which correct life threatening irregularities of heart rhythm.

     

  3. The Medical Records & Patient Relations Services Units are industrious multi-functioned units. The units through the years has incorporated many functions and is now responsible for:

    • The administration of admissions for all elective patients into the Centres and clinics.
    • Arrangements for accommodation for relatives and close friends of patients
    • Preparation of case notes for patients attending an outpatient clinic
    • Staffing of the Outpatient Reception Desk and responsibility for associated administrative duties and tasks
    • Information relating to access to Medical Records and the processing of applications under the Patient Protection Regulations
    • Bereavement administration with staff ensuring that relatives and friends are guided through the process in a sensitive, confidential and courteous manner

    A variety of literature is housed in the Patient Services area covering many aspects of the Centre's activity and is of benefit to many people.

    The Kasemrad staff will be pleased to assist with any problems or queries relating to the Centres or clinics and to help in the directing of customers to other areas within the Unit. Staff will be happy to act as a central point for any complaints and will ensure that the appropriate department processes them.

  4. Nursing

    The Nursing Ward is combined with the Patient Services units and includes Overseas and Domestic Services, Telecommunications, lodging Services, Supplies, etc.

  5. Nutrition & Dietetics

    At Kasemrad Nutrition and Dietetics Unit, dietitians use their knowledge of nutritional, medical and social science to devise appropriate eating patterns and therapeutic diets tailored to meet individual needs. They work closely with members of the multi-professional team and are currently involved in implementing the new Halal menu for IPD.

    Dietitians can advise therapeutic diets for the following conditions on CTC:
    • Diabetes mellitus
    • Cystic Fibrosis
    • Renal disease
    • Cancer
    • Weight reduction/obesity
    • Cholesterol/lipid lowering
    • Malnutrition
    • Other diets depending on patients conditions

  6. Pharmacy Unit

    The Pharmacy unit consists of a team of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and administration officers. The unit located at the Ground floor of the hospital for day patient and at the first floor of the hospital for the admitted patient.

    The pharmacists visit every ward in the hospital at least once a day to provide a clinical pharmacy service to all the patients within the Centre. The pharmacists also provide an on-call service out of hours, which can enable drug queries to be answered at any time. Most medicines are supplied labelled ready for discharge, speeding up the discharge process. Information leaflets are supplied with most dispensed medicines to allow patients to learn more about their medication.

    The unit has a small aseptic suite for preparation of total parenteral nutrition and other aseptic products such as epidural infusions. Many clinical trials are conducted at the Centres or clinics and many are dispensed from the unit.

  7. Pulmonary Function

    This department undertakes a wide range of techniques including;

    Routine Spirometry
    Full pulmonary function, lung volumes, transfer factor
    Body Plethysmography
    Sleep apnoea screening
    Allergy testing
    Respiratory exercise testing
    Iontophoresis
    Oesophageal manometry
    Oesophageal and tracheal Ph studies
    Routine maintenance of blood gas analysors

  8. Radiology Unit

    The Radiology Unit provides a routine x-ray service and carries out general x-ray services for inpatients, outpatients and GP patients.

    The Ultrasound Unit:
    provides pre-operative vascular assessments for patients undergoing heart surgery. General ultrasound scanning is also provided for both inpatients and outpatients.

    The CT Scanning Unit:
    this new state of the art scanner is also used by Kasemrad Hospital. Thousands of patients a year pass through the scanner.
